Standby Generators | Home Generators
Feel Safe & Secure with an Aurora Home Generator.
Don’t get left in the dark! When the power fails automatic standby generators (also known as home generators) can restore power within seconds. Today the most common larger type of standby generators is a diesel powered Diesel fuel is a light grade oil so it also acts as a lubricant and also helps reduce friction and wear. The engines last much longer and require less maintenance. New emission laws have resulted in new year model diesel generators that are more fuel efficient. They produce virtually no visible smoke and run quieter. Diesel Standby Generators or Home Generators cost less to operate, are easier to maintain and with proper maintenance can last you indefinitely. An Aurora home generator is built to last and is often used a prime source of power for homeowners living off the grid. You can use them full time or for emergency standby in trouble areas where power failures are common. Talk to us about generator standby use, we can help. Home Generators and Standby Generators is our specialty.
30 kVA Standby Diesel Generators
Most homes have 200 amp service. Two hundred amps is 30 kVA. If you want to ignore power failures and continue living as if nothing ever happened consider this size.
20 kVA Standby Diesel Generators
If you do not have any 220 volt electricity hogs, such as electric heat, hot water tank, clothes dryer, range or central AC all running at the same time then 20 kVA is a reasonable size for most homes. Few run all the electricity hogs at the same time so with 20 kVA many during a power failure running on this size generator just hold back doing stove cooking or drying cloth for a later time.
10 kVA Standby Diesel Generator
Most people who buy this size generator have owned a portable generator before and are looking for something bigger without spending too much money. This is the smallest water cooled generator available and can also run full-time. An example of what it can power would be a fridge, deep freezer, pump, TV, lights, microwave and gas furnace. If you can manage your power use, then this is enough to get you through a prolonged power failure without burning a lot of fuel or costing too much money. If air conditioning is required, consider a window air unit for emergencies or turn other things off when using this. 10,000 watts is about 80 Amps at 120 volts. Many homes across the country or in rural areas only have 100 amp service anyway.

Connecting To Your Home
When you receive your generator it needs to be connected to your home. Best to get an electrician to connect it and make sure everything follows local laws and electrical safety codes. Basically your home electrical supply is fed though the generator. If your generator is automatic, then it will turn on by itself if the power fails and take over. When power is restored it will return control and shut itself down. If it is not automatic, then you need to start it yourself and flick a switch to change your power source to the generator or have installed a manual transfer switch that lets you select what circuits in your home you want it to connect too.
Installation
We manufacture and supply generators we do not do installations. Installation is very simple though. Most of our generators are standalone. They just need oil, antifreeze, fuel and a charged battery. If you don’t have a solid surface to set it down on then consider pouring a concrete pad. Your electrician may also be able to help you.
